Canadian Renewable Fuels Producers Welcome First Biofuel-Powered Revenue Flight

OTTAWA – The Canadian Renewable Fuels Association (CRFA) today applauds Canada’s first ever biofuel-powered revenue flight. The commercial flight run by Porter Airlines in partnership with Bombardier Aerospace, Targeted Growth and Pratt and Whitney Canada is a clear example of Canadian progress, bringing together agriculture and technology to create greener fuels.

According to a release from Bombardier, Porter passengers travelled from Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport to the Ottawa International Airport in a plane fueled by a 50/50 blend of Jet A1 fuel and biofuel produced using Camelina sativa (camelina) and Brassica carinata feedstock.
