Alcogroup, headquartered in Brussels (Belgium) is the second largest European producer and an important distributor of ethanol for fuel use. It is also a global producer and distributor of ethanol for the pharmaceutical, chemical, cosmetic, healthcare and beverage industries with its AlcoNCP and Alcotra business units. Alcogroup through its subsidiary Alco Energy produces approximately 1 billion litres of ethanol, 700,000 tons of DDGs and 500,000 tons of biogenic CO2. annually in Europe.  With the December 2024 acquisition of IGPC Ethanol Inc. (IGPC), Alcogroup will add 380 million litres of denatured fuel grade ethanol and 340,000 tons of distillers’ grains to its existing production capacity of 1 billion litres. Established in 2007, IGPC (now Alco Energy Canada) contributes significantly to the Renewable Fuels Industry and Ontario’s agricultural sector emerged as a leader in Southwestern Ontario’s business community by creating environmentally sustainable economic growth as a full-service provider for local farmers offering distribution solutions for their corn crops and producing high protein feed supplements for livestock. Ethanol is currently one of the most cost-effective and efficient sustainable products for reducing fossil fuel consumption in road, maritime and aviation transportation (“alcohol to jet”). Like in fuel, ethanol will become a key base molecule for the development of green chemistry. Alcogroup’s ambition as a sustainable pioneer is to constantly improve its ethanol production processes. Alco Energy is controlled at 60% by Alcogroup and 40% by Groep Vanden Avenne Commodities. Groep Vanden Avenne Commodities is a major Belgian trader in agricultural commodities, including Distiller’s Grains and Solubles (DGS).

Kevin W Norton

Mr. Kevin W. Norton, CEO of Alco Energy Canada. Mr. Norton’s previous experience includes co-founding BIOX Corporation in 2000 and serving as Chief Operating Officer and Director of Engineering from 2000 to 2011 and as Chief Executive Officer from 2011 to 2015.

He has more than 25 years of senior-level experience in business management of both publicly traded and privately held corporations, project management and engineering services. Prior to BIOX, he held several senior level positions with primary responsibility for the evaluation and development of new technologies, systems and services and the optimization of existing production lines.

His previous positions have included Manager of Environmental Products Division, Connor Pacific and Maritime Environmental Protection Project Manager/Engineer and Marine Systems Engineering Officer for the Department of National Defence. He served as an Officer in the Canadian Armed Forces (Navy) for thirteen years. Mr. Norton received his degree in mechanical engineering from the Royal Military College of Canada.

Jordan Haverly

Jordan Haverly joined Neste in 2021 to lead the company’s federal advocacy related to renewable road transportation in the U.S. and Canada. Based in Washington, DC, Jordan brings more than a decade of Capitol Hill experience to Neste having previously served as the top policy and communications aide to former Congressman John Shimkus of Illinois. In that role, Jordan was actively engaged in the future of the Renewable Fuel Standard and other climate policy development. He also staffed the bipartisan House Recycling Caucus. Jordan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from American University in Washington DC.

Shelby Neal

Shelby Neal serves as Vice President for Renewables and Energy Policy at Darling Ingredients, Inc. where he manages government affairs efforts on behalf of the company’s renewable fuels businesses. Before joining Darling, Shelby served as the Director of State Governmental Affairs at the National Biodiesel Board and a policy advisory for three members of the U.S. Congress and a state governor.

Shelby’s expertise in public policy includes renewable fuels, agriculture, economic development, and environmental issues. He has served on advisory committees and expert working groups for the California Air Resources Board, Oregon Department of Environmental Quality, Midwest Governors Association, and members of the U.S. Congress. Shelby currently serves as vice chair of the California Advanced Biofuels Alliance and is a graduate of the University of Missouri.
